Centers of excellence / scientific projects

One of the mechanisms of implementing the Road Map Program for Enhancing KFU’s Competitive Ranking (5/100 Program), involves focusing on four priority areas of development one of which was “Biomedicine and Pharmaceutics.” Scientific start-up laboratories or OpenLab’s have been created within the framework of these priority areas. Scientific start-up laboratories or OpenLab’s have been created within the framework of these priority areas. To create a laboratory, any scientist, working either in Russia or abroad, has to submit his/her research project within a specific priority area for grant application, with an obligatory indication of what new scientific and educational competences will be brought to KFU and how it will enhance the competitiveness of the university. Seventeen laboratories were created within the Biomedicine and Pharmaceutics fields, in which about 30 prominent researchers were involved. These laboratories provided key experiences for young researchers (scientists, Ph.D. and master students) who have acquired almost all the key competences in the field of fundamental and applied biomedicine, and the University has become a leader in the field of Biomedicine among other universities participating in 5/100 Program.
