KFU-RIKEN functional and applied genomics

In the joint laboratory of KFU-RIKEN (Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology)

In 2016, on the KFU platform and on the basis of Openlab “Extreme Biology”, was created a laboratory that cooperates with the leading Japan research institute RIKEN and is focused on translational biomedical research involving high-performance sequencing in the field of oncogenetics and pharmacogenetics to find new promising diagnostic solutions On optimization of therapy.

At present, the laboratory consists of two parts: the clinical diagnostic laboratory of the University Clinic of the KFU carrying out flow-line PCR studies and the fundamental scientific part using methods of high-performance genomic sequencing for the implementation of projects on the study of the molecular basis of anhydrobiosis and ethnospecific features of the oncomarker genes of the population of the Republic of Tatarstan .

In May 2016, during the visit of the KFU delegation to Japan, a strategic partnership agreement was signed with the National Research Institute RIKEN. It is important to note that this agreement is the result of long-term fruitful scientific cooperation of the parties for more than 10 years in the field of physics, chemistry, biomedicine.
