The laboratory deals with the study of living in Nigeria mosquito type Polypedilum vanderplanki – one of the complex organized representatives of the animal world, able to survive in the absence of water in his body.
The study of this insect can give us the opportunity anhydrous storage of recoverable food, bio-materials, biological objects, plant seeds — just what the astronauts can use during the flight, including for experimental purposes. And, most importantly, without the incredible amount of electricity costs that in space flight conditions – priceless.
In addition to the ability to anhydrobiosis (life without water), laboratory researches mammals, capable of immersion in a deep sleep – hibernation, using an interesting group of rodents Gliridae. Because the atrophy of skeletal muscle in conditions of prolonged immobilization and microgravity most mammals, particularly in humans, remains an urgent problem in medicine, physiology and space biology.
Also laboratory together with the specialists of the Republican clinical oncologic center conducts research on “ethno-specific features of gene–specific markers of the population of the Tatarstan Republic”.

RSL “SIM”, the project “Virtual and simulation technologies in Biomedicine”
Head: Kugurakov Vlada Volodymyrivna, senior lecturer in intelligent robotics High School ITIS, head of Digital Media Lab – training laboratory of visualization and game development.
Area of ongoing basic research in the laboratory is quite wide – development of mathematical models of basic manipulations to implement a virtual open surgery, as well as development of feedback tools for a wide range of types of impact with high immersivity in virtual environments, the development of innovative approaches for the rehabilitation of neurological patients and the development of a numerical model of the morphology of a realistic neural network of hippocampus.
In the process, these studies should be implemented in the following applied developments: a complex realistic simulators virtual open surgery, complex rehabilitation equipment using sensors-rangefinders or processing of the video stream, and system for visualization of bioelectric activity of the structures in the growing brain.
Also in the research stage there is a project of personalized digital anatomical-physiological 3D model of the patient, which should provide practitioners a new presentation forms of information about the conditions and characteristics of internal organs of the patient based on the dynamic mapping processes in tissues in the anatomically correct shape of the investigated structures.

The area of basic research that the laboratory conducts is quite wide: it is the development of mathematical models of basic manipulations for the implementation of virtual open surgical operations; the development of tools for feedback with a wide range of types of impact with high immersion in virtual environments; the development of innovative approaches for the rehabilitation of neurological patients; development of a numerical model of the morphology of the realistic neural network of the hippocampus.
In the process of work, these studies should be implemented in the following applications: a set of highly realistic simulators of virtual open surgical operations, a complex of rehabilitation simulators using sensor-range finders or processing of video stream data, as well as a complex for visualization of bioelectric activity of structures of the growing brain.
Also in the laboratory at the research stage is a project to create a personalized digital anatomical-physiological 3D model of the patient that should provide practitioners with a new form of presenting information about the conditions and features of the patient’s internal organs on the basis of dynamic mapping of processes in tissues to the anatomically correct form of the investigated structures.
RSL “Omics technologies” the project “Omics”

In the 21st century, biology has entered the postgenomic stage of its development. Actively developing technology, which allows to multiply the throughput of standard experimental methods. “Omics” methods have revolutionized the methodology of experimental biology, data analysis and their integration. Increased emphasis on function, structure and evolution of genomes. Appeared a constellation of very efficient experimental disciplines called “omics” (or “omics” technology), which name is based on the same suffix: genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics… Today we have the opportunity to analyze the primary structure of genomes, the expression of genes in them, to identify the different levels of regulation and the relationship between them. Instrumental transition from microarrays to the so-called high-performance whole genome sequencing, explores the entire set of DNA contained in a single cell, cell populations or communities of organisms, and analyzed the performance of all genes simultaneously. New experimental technologies generate vast amounts of data which is possible to analyze by bioinformatics methods only, which are based on a synthesis of biological and mathematical knowledge.
RSL “The molecular basis of pathogenesis and therapy of tumor diseases”, project “Motos”

Area of ongoing basic research are the molecular basis of pathogenesis and therapy of tumor diseases, in particular for solving problems in identifying biomarkers, studies of the mechanisms and development the treatment of cancer. Implementation of the project using modern cell and molecular biological technologies will allow to provide personal training, capable for the highest level interaction with the treating oncologists and implement the transition to personalized medicine.
In the development of personalized medicine is actively used to obtain and comprehensive description of xenografts from patients as close as possible to the clinic. Such experimental models (xenograft) become the de-facto norm in modern cancer center and allow us to develop individualized recommendations for use of medicines for cancer patients.
RSL “Molecular genetics of microorganisms”, the project “Biofilm”

Area of ongoing research of the laboratory are:
— Study of the interaction of microorganisms among themselves and with the host organism in the composition of microbial biofilms and the role of these interactions in the pathogenesis of diseases and drug resistance and development of methods of struggle.
— Study of molecular mechanisms of regulation of processes of realization of genetic information of microbial cells, control of gene transcription, adaptation of cells to stressful conditions.
— The study of patterns of organization of biomolecules methods of statistical physics.
RSL “Microbial biotechnology”

RSL “Medico-psycho-social markers of health”, the project “Health of students”

Project — panel longitudinal study, which provides interdisciplinary analysis of the social and physical health of students in the dynamics during the whole period of University studies (4 years).
The purpose is to identify the dynamics of social, physical and psychological health of students in the institutional environment of the University and to identify key internal and external factors that influence it. The contents of the study: the linear four-year field experiment and monitoring of social and physical health of students admitted to the University in 2015, based on the comparison of the initial health status of students (at the time of admission) and final health status (at the time of graduation).
